March
March Break is just around the corner. This will be a week to find balance between structure and freedom for your children. They will have reached a point in their school year where they are ready for a break, and they will want to enjoy their freedom from the schedule. However, their need for structure will still persist. Before long, they’ll be asking “what can I do now?” By planning a balance of indoor and outdoor activities, our Redhawks may avoid the “video game trap”. I hope you find some time to include reading for pleasure. A simple trip to the bookstore or library is always a good way to break up the week, while promoting literacy as a family. Perhaps you challenge members of your family to cook or bake a new item for the family to try? Cooking and baking are great ways to apply math skills, such as fractions, reading procedural texts (to follow instructions) and just a great way to spend time together as a family!
Whatever plans you have for March Break, we wish our families a safe and healthy break and look forward to reconnecting once we are refreshed and ready for the remainder of the school year!

February
February is here, and with it comes our theme of Love! This month gives us a chance to talk about the people we care about and the importance of building friendships. Our school remains busy with lots of extracurricular activities for students to get involved in and fun community events to enjoy together and a special family day weekend. Take a look at the February calendar link below. Term one report cards will be shared with famlies on February 13. We also want to take this time to recognize and celebrate Black History Month, honoring the incredible contributions Black Canadians have made to our community and beyond.
January
Happy New Year! Welcome back Redhawks. A new year provides us with a wonderful opportunity to create resolutions or promises to make positive changes in our lives like eating better, going to bed earlier, or exercising more regularly.
There are some fun activities planned as we have Family Literacy Day in the month of January and many more teams/clubs starting.
December
It is hard to believe that December is here! Our focus for this month is Gratitude. At our recent celebration assembly we talked about the power of giving back and that it is proven to improve happiness for everyone. We challenged all of our students to find a way to give back to their community during the month of December. We have lots of different ways we are going to celebrate this month. Take a look at our December calendar and weekly updates for more information.
November
November is here with the crisp air and the leaves following to the ground. In November, we are reflecting on our first two months of school and taking some time to remember and be grateful for all that we have. The next two months of 2024 will move quickly. Please take a look at the calendar for upcoming events. This month we have progress reports going home as well as parent-teacher conferences.
